Keith Green’s Prodigal Son Suite

Music Video The Journey Preacher Greg Taylor Played in Sunday Morning Worship February 17, 2019

Some of you have asked about the music video I showed during my sermon in The Journey worship Sunday, February 17, 2019.

The video is based on on a 12 minute progressive rock song written in the early 80s by the late Keith Green.

I highly recommend Keith Green’s music to you. I’m thankful to my sister, Debbie French, and my brother’s college roommate, Todd Thompson, who introduced me to Keith Green’s music when I was in college. I’ve been listening ever since.

The Prodigal Son Suite, I’ve heard, was to be part of a full rock opera on Jesus stories and parables, but Keith Green died in a tragic plane crash before he completed that project. What we were left with by Keith Green are two songs about what I call the “bookends” of the great parables in Luke, two of the greatest parables of Jesus: the Good Samaritan and the Prodigal Son. Green’s song on the Good Samaritan is called, “The Road to Jericho.”

Below is the video I showed Sunday, February 17, 2019. Thank you to Last Days Ministries and Dean L. Bauman for this video and music.
