Human migration is an important component of our history. However, not all migrations have been the same.

Let’s talk about Honduras. A great small country, a five-star country, as I call it. It is sad to see a country with so many things and enough resources that can provide each of its citizens with a dignified and quality lifestyle. But ambition has over powered it, as much as inequality and the indifference of many. These injustices have led our Honduran brothers and sisters to decide to leave this beautiful land and seek dreams and hopes beyond our borders.

“THE CARAVAN OF MIGRANTS” is all of us. All of us who are affected by the consequences of a system of government that instead of giving to the people, takes it away from them. It is not easy to even start in a country where from the very beginning everything is complicated, even to start growing a business.

Now, I wonder, is it so difficult to put ourselves in the place of all those compatriots who have left everything to undertake this hard journey? Is it possible that I can be in that same situation someday?

We must be in solidarity with all our Honduran brothers and sisters who are traveling this route, one of the most dangerous in the world. This act of courage is not taken just by anyone, it is something that involves a great effort to get used to, to understand new realities, to leave behind people and friends. Above all to leave the land that saw them be born and that could not offer them what they deserved: work, health, security or that BETTER LIFE which the Honduran government talks about so much.

We Hondurans need to be unified, our country needs a change, we need to show solidarity with all these people who today more than ever need our support. That is our duty as citizens and as HUMANS. The day that we can be united as a country, that will be the day that we will be able to come afloat, because in our current state we are sunk deep.

Let’s not lose hope that everything will change. Let the world know that in the center of the Americas there are great countries, like Honduras, Mexico, and United States. In these countries are people like you and me, of great heart, with incredible places to visit, with cuisine most of us love, with a rich culture and history. This is my Honduras; the country Hondurans deserve.

La migración humana es y ha sido un componente importante de nuestra historia. Sin embargo, no todas las migraciones han sido iguales.

Hablemos de Honduras; un pequeño gran país, un país cinco estrellas como lo llamo yo. Es triste ver un país con tantas cosas y recursos suficientes para brindarle a cada uno de sus ciudadanos un estilo de vida digno y de calidad, pero que ha podido mas la ambición de poder, desigualdad e indiferencia de muchos para que nuestros hermanos hondureños decidan salir de estas bellas tierras y buscar sueños y esperanzas fuera de nuestras fronteras.

Esa “CARAVANA DE MIGRANTES” somos todos. Todos los que nos vemos afectados por las consecuencias de un sistema de gobierno que en vez de darle al pueblo, le quita. No es fácil ni siquiera emprender en un país donde desde un principio todo es complicado para comenzar a forjar un negocio.

Ahora bien, yo me pregunto. ¿Es tan difícil ponerse en el lugar de todos esos compatriotas que han dejado todo para emprender ese duro viaje, sobre todo cuando todos estamos expuestos a que algún día podamos estar en esa misma situación? Debemos solidarizarnos con todos nuestros hermanos hondureños que van recorriendo esa ruta, una de las mas peligrosas del mundo. Ese acto de valentía no lo toma cualquiera, es algo que conlleva un gran esfuerzo de adaptación, de entender nuevas realidades, de dejar personas y amigos, pero sobre todo de dejar la tierra que los vió nacer y en la que no pudieron ofrecerles lo que siempre merecieron: trabajo, salud, seguridad o esa VIDA MEJOR de la que tanto habla este gobierno.

Unámonos como hermanos hondureños que somos, unámonos para cambiar este país, unámonos para solidarizarnos con toda esta gente que hoy mas que nunca necesita nuestro apoyo. Ese es nuestro deber como ciudadanos y como HUMANOS, porque el día que unidos logremos acabar y sacar la raíz de este problema y a los que nos han hundido, ese va a ser el día que una nueva Honduras podrá resurgir.

No perdamos la esperanza que todo cambiará. Que el mundo se de cuenta que en el centro de América existe este gran país, con gente de gran corazón, con lugares increíbles para visitar, con una gastronomía que enamorará a cualquiera, con una cultura e historia rica. Esa es mi Honduras, esa es la Honduras que nos merecemos.
