If it weren’t for bananas and milk we could go seven years without going to the grocery. You think I’m exaggerating. Ok, maybe a little. We could go maybe three years.
But if my wife of 24 years asks me to get bananas and milk on the way home from work, and though she has these years of experience to know whether or not to trust that I will accomplish this morning to afternoon memory exercise–or should I put Milk and Bananas in my appointment calendar?–she drops by mid-afternoon on her way home from teaching school and purchases said requested bananas and milk and returns home with same as I have, a double portion of bananas and milk. So we won’t have to go to the grocery store for anything else but bananas and milk for three years but bananas and milk we’ll need to get in two days.
